The concept of this tropical style house located in Lampang, in the north of Thailand, followed from the user's behavior and needs. Lampang is widely known as the hottest city in Thailand in the summertime. Thus, some of the major concerns for the architecture and interior design were focused on natural ventilation, fresh air, natural light and the color of the trees around the house, which could be combined with the design of the house.
All the furniture in the house was custom made using local wood, such as teak wood and red wood. Some of the furniture was also passed down from generation to generation. Most chairs and tables were from an older house, but they were still able to match to the new house design. Since old wood is becoming invaluable nowadays, keeping the classic shape and form of the furniture was important. The furniture was only repainted with new colors to match the tropical style concept of the new house.
This house was completed in November 2010 on my mom's birthday. It took a total of 5 years for construction and designing both the interior and exterior. This house holds a special place in my heart because it is my parents' last home. I love this house and I did my best to provide the best design for my family. Most importantly, this house can now provide comfort, relaxation and safety for all my family members.
