Trend Design has been in the furniture retail industry for over 20 years, and their existing customer base was high-end consumers. However, today there are more competitive furniture retailers in the market than there were two decades ago. For this reason, the design approach for this furniture showroom did not focus solely on the aesthetics of the interior, but also on how the space itself can raise the value of the products and further reflect the lifestyle of Trend Design's target customer.
Based on the branding research and target customer analysis, the customer's lifestyle identified led to creation of the interior design concept of "Casual Luxury," to appeal to luxury lovers with an outdoors lifestyle who are successful in both their family and business life. Trend Design hoped to represent the ultimate luxury furniture vendor, and featured more than 10 furniture brands in its showroom. The showroom itself was also intended to be the place for customers who expect to find high quality furniture, lighting and decorative pieces. However, the old showroom did not portray the sense and values of the products on display. In particular, the material selection was unrefined, and the product making process and the background stories of the furniture was missing.
The design solution approach was to enhance the overall customer experience in the showroom by transforming the space into the "Luxury Lover's Destination."
The reflecting ceiling provides an alternative perspective from above the furniture. It also creates a unique space illusion that helps the ceiling look much higher and create new perspective of the showroom.
